Falling Apart (Part 1)


The next day, Jin, Amy and Ronan arrived in a beat up old town with villagers and soldiers running about. A soldier then greeted them and led them to a building which was filled with other soldiers. They entered a room which had a large map of the area in the middle. Surrounding the map were soldiers. On the end opposite to them were three people with different uniforms from the others. Ronan, Amy and Jin stepped forward and the man in the opposite end of their side looked at them. "General, I have brought the two people that I recommended." Ronan said. "The male is Jin. He will help in the front lines and the lady is Amy. She will assist in healing the wounded." He then turned to Amy and Jin. "This is General Drusus. He is our commanding officer here. The man to his right is Colonel Maximillian, he commands our special forces and the lady across him is Major Jessica, she is in charge of our naval fleet."

General Drusus was the eldest among the three. He had a muscular body and intimidating gray eyes. He had short, gray hair which was combed neatly. Maximillian also had short hair but his was color black and his eyes were emerald-green. Both of the two looked intimidating and just looking at them would tell you that they've seen many battles. Jessica was different from the two. She had sky-blue eyes and long, blonde hair which reached until her shoulders. She had this caring look about her. They all wore the same blue, long-sleeved military uniform and each had a cutlass. General Drusus then stood up. "Show them around town for a while and then return here." The 3 gave a short bow and left the building.

"Man, what were those two's problem? They looked at us as if they wanted rip our throats out." Jin said. "I don't blame them." Ronan replied. "They've been stationed here for more than five weeks." "Yeah, well I guess I'd be like that too if I was stuck here. But Jessica seemed different from them." Jin said. "Don't let her looks fool you. Yes she looks caring and kind and she is, when she's not working." Ronan said, letting out a nervous sigh. "She's commanding officer of our fleet. Mess with her on the battlefield or when she's working and you'll be rushed to the infirmary faster than Sieghart falls asleep when he listens to Mari's lectures."

Ronan showed them the armory, the tavern, inn, shops and the rest of town. After touring the town, Ronan brought Jin to the barracks. When they entered, the soldiers stopped what they were doing and stood in salute. "At ease, gentlemen. Carry on." Ronan said and the soldiers resumed what they were doing. One of the soldiers approached Ronan. "Sir, nearly one quarter of our troops have been sent to the infirmary." He said. The soldier was a boy the age of 14. He had brown eyes and a brown hair which was recently turned into a crew cut. "You know you don't have to be all formal with me, Odin." Ronan said as he ruffled the boy's hair. "This is Odin. He and I were buddies when I was still in training. He said he was going to be part of the Royal Guard but instead, he became a soldier on the front."

After formalities were done, Ronan left Jin with Odin so he could be shown around the barracks and taught how things were done. He then brought Amy to the infirmary where they were greeted by a nurse. She was the same age as Odin. She had long, black hair and emerald-green eyes. Just as they were about to enter, they heard bells ringing. "Battle stations, now!" Ronan shouted. Soldiers began running about with swords and spears. Drusus, Maximillian and Jessica ran out of the command center and joined Ronan. "What is the situation?" Maximillian asked a soldier. "Sir, a large group of orcs are advancing from the northern plains." "Maximillian, take some infantry units and take them out. Bring this Jin person with you." Drusus said. Maximillian then ran towards the barracks. "Jessica, send patrol ships around the area. We can't afford an ambush." Jessica immediately left. "Ronan, scout the western forest." Ronan left as well. General Drusus took some men in armor with swords and shields and headed south.
